History of Palestine and Israel

An overhead view of rubble in Gaza shows the utter devastation inflicted by Israeli bombardment.

In order to form a reasonable opinion on the subject, the history of Israel’s settler occupation of Palestine is important to understand. Here are some historical records demonstrating the timeline and events.

Recent History

The conflict between Palestine and Israel has been unfolding over the last 80 years, and is not a new demonstration of tension or aggression. There have been thousands of fatalities between both belligerents in the last 20+ years, which demonstrate that the attack on October 7, 2023 was not unprovoked or random.

October 7, 2023

Since the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel, there have been numerous false claims made by Israel, which have been swiftly published without question by US media outlets.

Today

Humanitarian aid is being actively blocked by Israeli Zionists, supported by unsubstantiated claims by Israel that some UNRWA employees were involved in Hamas’ Oct 7 attack. In response to this, the U.S. government has proposed a $320 million “aid pier”, an elaborate and expensive military operation to establish a pier on the Gaza beach which bottlenecks aid volume, and adds unnecessary logistics to the delivery of crucial supplies to innocent Palestinians. The pier has, of course, broken apart, and proven to be a complete waste of money and resources, while also further delaying essential aid against the famine of Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the Unites States is actively blocking otherwise unanimous UN votes to recognize Palestine as a nation state. While the rest of the world’s nations are interested in the sovereignty of Palestinians, the U.S. continues to demonstrate that it prefers for Palestinians to be oppressed and obliterated by Israel.

South Africa has built an International Court of Justice (ICJ) case against Israel for committing genocide against Palestinians. The case is well-documented and cites recorded events, quotations from Israeli leaders, and the patterns of actions that demonstrate an active genocide. The international court found the accusations plausible, and ordered Israel to cease all genocidal activity.

Israel, and accordingly, many American politicians who’s opinions have been bought by the Israeli lobby, have declared the ICJ entirely antisemitic–instead of heeding the court’s warnings–and continued their genocide by bombing the refugee city of Rafah indiscriminately. More nations are gaining the understanding and the courage to stand up against the powerful European elites who are behind the atrocities in Palestine, and joining South Africa’s position each week.

The situation grows more dire every day for Palestinians who face death and dismemberment from bombing, severe illness and disease from unclean water, and famine due to the blocking of humanitarian aid.
